Our client is looking for a Sr. Manager for their M&A practice in San Francisco. You will have a variety of responsibilities to really expand your breath of experience as well as a lot of variety. You will work with your clients in several areas of M&A to include operational and technology assessments, due diligence, planning, carve-outs as well as post-close execution management. An exciting opportunity!
 
You will play an integral part of the team. In fact, you will be the lead M&A person in the San Francisco office. Through an acquisition themselves, our client is expanding their Northern California footprint. Therefore, it’s an entrepreneurial opportunity, instrumental in shaping their culture, working on the strategy of the office and practice development. There is also equity involved. You don’t have to buy into, wait until a certain level or take out a loan; it’s yours from the day you join. It really speaks to the culture of the firm; collaborative and entrepreneurial. You will have the ability to make an immediate impact to their clients as well as the firm! You will lead engagement teams on new transactions, guiding the team to prepare focused request lists and agendas, facilitating on-site reviews and providing leadership in deliverable creation. You will assess operational and technology investment strategies and compare respective operating models and organizational structures against leading practices and industry benchmarks. You will facilitate due diligence site visits focused on identifying operational and technology strategy, organizational structures and current state business processes and supporting technology. You will collaborate with the National M&A practice to drive the development and enhancement of our client’ methodologies and approaches to client delivery. You will be instrumental in initiating and leading business development meetings with prospective clients. This includes creating work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments.
 
You will come from the Professional Services/ Management Consulting industry with knowledge and expertise working with private equity and strategic buyers focused on healthcare, manufacturing & distribution, software consumer packaged goods and retail.
 

Fast forward a year, what will you be doing?

You will have worked with a variety of clients in various industries on IT Strategies and Roadmaps, IT Due Diligence, carve-outs, and have managed complex projects. You have won new business for your practice. This will have built an impressive, reputable brand not just with our client but yourself. You will be seen in the industry as an expert in M&A in Northern California. You will be driving the creation of the rapport with strategic messing. You will have your own set of clients.
 

How will you get there?

30 days:

Go through onboarding in San Francisco & Chicago
You will meet your colleagues & the leaders in the M&A National Practice
You will join a few existing projects

 

90 days:

You understand the success factors of the organization
You will be supporting sales, responding to RFP’s & managing a few projects
You will know your measurable objectives and work toward them
You will know the client in the greater Northern California area
You are participating in the client development meetings
 

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Professional Services or Management Consulting industry experience, 10 years
  • Successfully managed large complex M&A projects from a people, process & technology standpoint
  • Accomplished M&A due diligence and carve-out projects; 6-8 years
  • Superior full end-to-end project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time though this is short term, usually 1-2 days per week, not the typical Monday thru Thursday
