Our client is looking for an HR Business Partner Manager in L.A. to join their team, running HR for their California offices. This is a brand-new position in L.A. based on the growth of the company. Recently, our client acquired a financial consulting firm in L.A. This has doubled the size of their L.A. office. In addition, because of another acquisition 2 years ago, they now have a San Francisco office that has been experiencing rapid growth. Therefore, a really exciting opportunity to truly own the entire HR function. You’re not starting from scratch. You do have the support of a solid HR team in Seattle & Chicago.
You will be providing daily leadership in the areas of employee relations, performance management, workforce planning and career development. You will be the workplace culture champion! You will be collaborating with your local leadership team and Senior Talent Management leaders to execute strategic human resources plans that support the needs and priorities of the business to drive proactive, strategic, forward-thinking solutions to your employees and organizational issues.
You will provide leadership, HR expertise and coaching to managers and employees with specific focus on employee retention, employee advocacy and engagement, employee relations management, performance management, compensation and career development and talent assessment. You will build a credible and trusting relationship with your employees to help facilitate effective employee communication and relations. You will provide advice and counsel to managers and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures, and practices. You will collaborate with Talent colleagues, designing and delivering solutions across the firm. You will be the 1st point of contact for any questions or guidance on fundamental HR topics and issues. You will be leading key HR processes including talent review, compensation planning for locations and practice areas. You own the Onboarding and Orientation of new hires. You are instrumental in partnering with Talent Acquisition, developing, engaging and retaining talent.

You are contributing to the business by helping identify, prioritize and build organization capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes. You are sought out by your Executive team, your peers as well as the entire office as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert in all things HR. You are a voice of reason & calm. You have designed the best practices of the region as well as implemented those best practices. You know the California law like the back of your hand. You have told the story through data & talent metrics. You have the ability to get hands-on, into the nitty-gritty but can also be strategic as well as know the difference when applicable. How will you get there?
Get to know your HR team around the U.S., the other Service and Industry line leaders in California
Spend time in Chicago, meeting the leadership team & getting to know best practices
You have met with the Managing Directors of the L.A. & San Francisco offices
You are starting to create best practices and processes for the offices
You’ve been to Seattle to meet the Managing Director of the West Coast as well as the Seattle Talent team.
You are under way, developing processes for the CA offices
You are providing leadership, HR expertise to your managers & employees
You’re seen as a credible, reliable leader
You are starting to use data to build your stories
You’ve built strong relationships with your hiring managers
Your hiring managers are seeking you out for your feedback/advise
You are a talent champion for your offices
What you will need:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, business or related field
Seven or more years’ experience in H.R.
Experience in the Professional Services industry
Demonstrated knowledge of California law
Successfully designed & implemented HR processes in a fast-paced, complex environment
Strong skills in Excel & PowerPoint
Effectively built relationships at all levels of an organization
Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship
