Managing Director, Seattle

Our client is looking for a Managing Director for their Seattle Practice. You will be leading and growing a team of smart people who are working on exciting projects across various industries. You own the delivery, P/L and the team for Seattle; there are about 50 people in the market including local business development and operations teams. The company has 4 areas of focus they deliver to their clients: Business Capture, Management Consulting, Program Planning & Controls and Technology Solutions.  There are a lot of expansion opportunities in Seattle. The majority of their clients have worked with them in the past; about 80% of their business is repeat clients. That’s how much clients love their work. Your time will be focused on client delivery, practice development as well as growing the business. You will be a critical part of the Senior Leadership Team, strategizing on service offerings and solutions.

Our client has a national reach so you will be able to leverage and partner with that talent. This is a great opportunity for someone who is motivated, ambitious, wants to build a team, have the influence and latitude to do so however with a solid backing from a reputable company and team.

Fast forward a year, what will you be doing?

Your team as well as revenues have grown. You are intimately tied into recruiting, business development and operations. And, you understand how they all tie together. You have completed your strategic plan and you are executing to that plan. You know their clients as well as have added new clients. You and your team have grown existing relationships. You are well-respected by your team. You are happy.

How will you get there?

30 days:

  • Meet with the Partners as well as your team

  •   Asses the current state of the organization

  • You’re getting to know your team and what motivates them

 

90 days:

  • You’re creating your strategic plan and vision for the office

  • Closing on a new deal to help diversify the practice

  • Understand the business, their model and clients

  • Gaps are assessed and realigned

  • You’re leveraging your network

  • You’re seen as a trusted agent

6 months:

  • Engaged strategically in client projects

  • You have expanded your team

  • You have grown the revenue

  • You’re running your market

 What you will need:

  • Success growing and running a practice or group in the Management Consulting/Professional Services industry

  • Demonstrated ability to support business development and close deals

  • Proven history of building a diversified set of local clients

  • Partnering with clients on transformation engagements, not staff augmentation work

  • Strong Seattle network

  • Broad range of consulting around strategic project management, not just IT system integration

  •  Ability to grasp and understand technical capabilities at clients as well as understand how tools such as Power BI, SQL, and Smartsheet are used to enhance project outcomes

  •  Success at building a well-performing team; great ability to mentor

  • Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
